EeStairs + De Palatinat Interieur Design

Situated in the refined luxury of Monte Carlo, the Sci Hundervood project features an architectural showpiece that epitomises design ingenuity and technical excellence: a DNA staircase by EeStairs. The DNA staircase is a design by Senior Designer Geoffrey Packer, who was inspired by the interplay of two ascending spiral tubular elements, the staircase serves as a sculptural focal point in this high-end residence, blending seamlessly into its sophisticated surroundings.

At the heart of this design are the two intertwined helical steel tubes, forming a striking central DNA-like structure crafted from polished stainless steel. The staircase rises with laminated glass treads and a glass balustrade, creating a visual lightness that contrasts beautifully with the robust core. One of the key challenges of this installation was achieving the precise alignment of the 2000mm-diameter structure across the 3125mm ascent, particularly given the interplay between the translucent glass and reflective steel. EeStairs’ engineers employed their FlatRhythm 2-01 balustrade system for flawless geometric accuracy and seamless transitions along the helical curve.

The DNA staircase’s allure lies not only in its form but also in the precision of its materials. The polished stainless steel core was chosen for its strength and mirror-like finish, enhancing the staircase’s sculptural presence. Meanwhile, the glass treads and balustrades capture and diffuse light, amplifying the elegance of the surrounding space. The landing balustrade, designed using EeStairs’ TransParancy 1-01 GO system, adds a further touch of transparency, balancing functionality with aesthetic purity. The result is a staircase that is as much a technical triumph as it is a work of art—a statement of EeStairs’ commitment to realising bold, innovative designs.
