This staircase at the Streek Lyceum in the Netherlands is a great example of extremely clean-lined design – a design that was developed in detail by EeStairs in-house design service. The accuracy of the geometry was achieved using an underlying steel structure faced with oak. The key challenge was to ensure that the oak ‘sits’ perfectly on the soffit and balustrades.

Two features confirm the precision of the way we translate our drawings into highly-crafted stairs: the absolutely smooth twist of the oak soffit, and the unwavering line of the edge where the soffit meets the balustrades. And this depended on two factors: the accuracy of our sophisticated CNC wood cutting and shaping machines; and the great care taken by the EeStairs installation team on site.

The quality of the joinery is equally apparent in the accuracy of the twisting wood elements in the handrail slot, and in the way the top of the slot meets the balcony’s balustrade rail.
