EeStairs + TKI / Pieter Laureys Interieur Design
The staircase in this home in the Netherlands - one of two made by EeStairs at this property - is a key feature of the upper floor interior, created by Pieter Laureys of TKI. The design of the stairs appears to be relatively simple and restrained, but is actually a demonstration of extremely precise dimensional and geometric tolerances, and the craftsmanship required to achieve them. The stairs rise from a marble-faced plinth and initially pass close to the floor-to-ceiling curtains. The accuracy of the line of the stairs is most obvious in the exact, no-gap way the oak treads and risers meet the wall on one side, and the inside curve of the top six steps on the other side. This degree of precision would not have been possible without the finishing skills of the EeStairs installation team.
Two other design details are notable: the oak on the full-depth inner stringer is carried in layers that match the wood layering in the risers; and two elegant light-slot fittings are sunken into the wall alongside the fifth step.
